Verses 40-49 GROUP_1167 37.40-49
40
إِلَّا عِبَادَ اللَّهِ الْمُخْلَصِينَ
But the chosen servants of God;
41
أُوْلَئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٌ مَّعْلُومٌ
shall have a known provision—
42
فَوَاكِهُ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ
fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured,
43
فِي جَنَّاتِ النَّعِيمِ
in the Gardens of Bliss,
44
عَلَى سُرُرٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ
seated on couches, facing one another.
45
يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٍ مِن مَّعِينٍ
A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring:
46
بَيْضَاء لَذَّةٍ لِّلشَّارِبِينَ
white and delicious to those who drink it,
47
لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٌ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَ
causing no headiness or intoxication.
48
وَعِنْدَهُمْ قَاصِرَاتُ الطَّرْفِ عِينٌ
With them will be spouses—modest of gaze and beautiful of eye—
49
كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٌ مَّكْنُونٌ
like closely guarded pearls.

Commentary
(a) The present world is a world of trial. Here people are given the opportunity to act freely so that God may separate the good from the bad. Those who prove by their words and deeds that they deserve to savour the joys of Paradise, will be selected by their Lord for this purpose. Special favours will be bestowed on them and they will be asked to remain forever in these gardens which afford every comfort and enjoyment.
